North View Housing Association Limited (NVHA) is a Registered Social Landlord and a Registered Charity. We are full members of Employers in Voluntary Housing (EVH). More information on EVH’s role can be found here

The Joint Statement between EVH and Unite on Fair Work First can be found here

NVHA is committed to advancing the Fair Work First criteria, including the Real Living Wage and effective voice conditions as set out in our statement below.

FAIR WORK FIRST STATEMENT

Appropriate channels for effective workers’ voice, such as trade union recognition

  • A collective bargaining agreement on member salaries, pay grading, and terms and conditions of employment exists between EVH and Unite. All employees have the opportunity to join Unite as set out in the terms and conditions of employment, which also includes provision for employees carrying out official duties for Unite.

Payment of at least the Real Living Wage

  • EVH sets NVHA’s salary scales and allowances.

  • From 1st April 2024, all employees will receive at least the Real Living Wage. The bottom points of the salary scales are reviewed annually to ensure they reflect the annual increase to the Real Living Wage.

Investment in workforce development

  • NVHA is committed to the development of its staff. Staff are encouraged to attend training courses, conferences, networks, and forums. Staff are provided with refresher training on equality and diversity. Staff are supported to engage in continuous professional development as part of their membership of professional bodies. NVHA is a Silver Accredited Investor in People.

No inappropriate use of zero-hours contracts

  • NVHA has no zero-hour contracts. The terms and conditions of employment states an employee’s number of hours contracted for each week as well as their annual salary.

Action to tackle the gender pay gap and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace

  • NVHA has no gender pay gap. Salary scales are supported by a job evaluation system which is based on typical characteristics of any given job. The system focuses on the job, not the staff member and provides a tried and tested system to ensure fair and transparent arrangements for pay. The job evaluation system is based on the grading guidelines set by EVH which have been negotiated and agreed with Unite. The terms and conditions of employment set summary points for both equality and dignity at work.

  • NVHA is a registered Disability Confident Employer. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments for employees with disabilities. We gather data annually from our employees to understand the diversity of our workplace.

Offer flexible and family friendly working practices for all workers from day one of employment

  • NVHA has a regularly reviewed Flexible Working Policy, and we are committed to considering all flexible working requests from all staff. The terms and conditions of employment set out maternity leave, paternity leave, shared parental leave, and adoption leave arrangements.

Oppose the use of fire and rehire practice

  • NVHA opposes the use of ‘fire and rehire’. We would seek to engage with the trade union at the start of the process for any changes which may affect contractual terms. This ensures full consultation with any affected staff members takes place. The purpose of consultation is to explore options to reach agreed outcomes.
