All tenants were sent a letter updating them on some important changes that have been made to the Scottish Secure Tenancy Agreement due to the Housing (Scotland) Act 2025 and new provisions for social landlords included in the Domestic Abuse (Protection) (Scotland) Act 2021.
The letter stated that as at 1st August 2026 every secure tenant will have the right to request to keep a pet (or pets). This is currently the case for our tenants, but it is anticipated that further regualtions will be produced by the Scottish Government in advance of the pet provisions coming into force after 1st August 2026. The Association will contact tenants if this has any further impact on their right to keep a pet or pets and/or the tenancy agreement.
